spend $40 only to register trademark by yourslef in China

Official fee: CNY 270 per class, up to 10 goods/services. +CNY 27 for each extra item.

⚠️ Individuals need a self-employed business license; companies use business license only. Portal: CNIPA Trademark Online Service System | Hours: 8:00–22:00

Required Documents

· Self-employed: Signed ID scan, signed business license scan, trademark image (JPG <200KB, 800×800px), selected class + 10 standard items

· Company: Stamped business license scan, trademark image, selected class + 10 standard items

· Portrait mark: Additional portrait authorization letter

Steps

1. Search for similar trademarks on CNIPA database. Note: 3–6-month blind period; search does not guarantee approval. Avoid prohibited names.

2. Register & verify your online account (ID + license upload). Account review takes time.

3. Create application: Fill applicant info, select mark type (word / graphic / combined), upload image, add goods/services (≤10 items). Preview and submit.

4. Pass formal examination → pay CNY 270 within 7 days. Non-compliant submissions get rejected for revision, no charge.

5. Receive Acceptance Notice in ~1–2 weeks. TM symbol allowed (not registered ®).

6. Substantive examination (~6–8 months): Result: preliminary approval / partial rejection / full rejection. Rejection review costs extra.

7. 3-month preliminary publication. Third parties may file opposition.

8. No opposition → registration published. Download electronic certificate (valid as hard copy).

Total lead time: 9–12 months

Key Reminders

· One fee = one class. Multiple classes need separate filings.

· Combined marks are examined as a whole. Separate filings for word and logo are better for enforcement.

· Update address timely for official communications. Term: 10 years, renewal required before expiry.

· Without an agent, you must monitor notices and respond within deadlines. Missed deadlines = loss of rights.
